Hair Color Correction
Done Right.
Bad color happens to the best of us. Our team knows exactly how to fix it - without sacrificing the health of your hair.
Sometimes Hair Color Doesn't Go as Planned - and That's Okay
Whether you went a little too dark with a box dye, got highlights that turned out more orange than golden, or ended up with an uneven, two-toned result after a DIY project - color correction is the service that makes it right. At Salon Tel Aviv in Sharon, Massachusetts, this is some of our most rewarding work.
Color correction is not a single formula or a quick fix. It's an advanced, multi-step process that requires a deep understanding of color theory, hair chemistry, and the patience to do the work correctly. Our owner, Shimi Angel, has over 20 years of experience reading hair and figuring out exactly what it needs - which is why clients come to us from all over the South Shore when other salons just haven't been able to get it right.
We use
organic, ammonia-free color and products like K18 and Milkshake to rebuild the hair while we correct it - so you don't walk out with beautiful color and damaged hair. You walk out with both.

Sound Familiar?
These are the color situations we see most often - and all of them are fixable.
🟠 Brassy or Orange Tones
Tried to go blonde but ended up with warm, brassy, or orange results? This is one of the most common color issues we correct, and the fix is easier than you think.
📦 Box Dye Gone Wrong
Box dyes are unpredictable because they're not customized to your hair. We remove and neutralize them gradually to bring your color back to a healthy, consistent base.
🌗 Uneven or Two-Toned Color
When your roots, mid-lengths, and ends are all different shades, it looks unfinished. We blend and even out the color for a seamless, natural result.
🖤 Too Dark or Black Dye
Going from very dark or black-dyed hair to lighter color requires a careful, multi-session approach. We lift gradually to protect your hair and get you where you want to be.
🟡 Over-Processed Blonde
If your blonde has gone too light, feels straw-like, or is breaking, we can tone, treat, and restore it - adding depth and shine back into the hair.
🎨 Fashion Colors That
Need to Go
Vibrant fashion colors like reds, pinks, and purples can stain the hair. We use targeted techniques to fade and remove them before moving to your new color.
How We Do Color Correction at Salon Tel Aviv
Color correction is never a one-size-fits-all situation, so we approach every single appointment with fresh eyes. Here's what the process usually looks like when you come in:
Thorough Consultation First Before we touch your hair, we talk. We want to understand your history - what products and colors have been used, how long ago, and most importantly, what you're hoping to achieve. An honest conversation upfront is what makes the whole process go smoothly. Don't worry about judging what's been done before - we've seen it all and we're just here to help.
Hair Health Assessment We look at the condition of your hair - not just the color. Porosity, elasticity, and existing damage all affect how your hair will respond to the correction process. If your hair needs to be strengthened before we begin, we'll tell you. We'd rather take an extra appointment to do it right than rush and compromise your hair's health.
A Custom Correction Plan Some corrections happen in one session. Others - especially going from very dark to light - take two or three visits to do safely. We'll be completely upfront with you about what's realistic, how many sessions it may take, and what your hair will look like at each stage. No surprises, no overselling.
Organic Products, Start to Finish We use Milkshake's ammonia-free color and lighteners packed with milk proteins, avocado oil, and grape seed oil - ingredients that actually protect the hair during the lifting process. We also add K18 molecular repair to every color service to rebuild damaged bonds from the inside out. Your color gets corrected, and your hair gets healthier in the process.
Finishing & Aftercare Guidance Once we've corrected your color, we finish with a gloss or toner to perfect the tone and add shine. Before you leave, we walk you through exactly how to maintain your new color at home - the right shampoos, how often to wash, and when to come back in for a refresh. Great results last longer when you know how to take care of them.

I came in with a complete disaster — I had tried to go blonde at home and my hair turned out half orange, half yellow with dark roots. Shimi sat down with me, explained exactly what was going on, and had a clear plan right away. Three hours later I walked out with the most beautiful, even blonde I've ever had. I actually cried. I had no idea my hair could look this good

I'd been using box dye for years and was convinced my hair was unfixable. Salon Tel Aviv proved me completely wrong. They were so patient, so honest about what the process would take, and the results after two sessions were absolutely stunning. My hair also feels healthier than it has in years — that K18 treatment they use makes a real difference.

After a bad experience at another salon that left me with two completely different colors on my head, a friend recommended Salon Tel Aviv. Honestly, Shimi is a magician. He took one look at my hair and immediately knew what needed to happen. The whole team is so welcoming and professional. This is the only place I'll ever go for color from now on.
SOPHIA K., DEDHAM MA

I had a fashion red color I was trying to get out for months and nobody could fix it without destroying my hair. At Salon Tel Aviv they actually listened, were completely transparent about the timeline, and did it right. My hair still feels soft, looks shiny, and the color is exactly what I had in mind. Worth every penny — and the drive from Dedham!

Frequently Asked Questions About Our Hair Color
How many sessions will my color correction take?
It really depends on your starting point and your goal. Some corrections - like fixing a slightly brassy tone or blending an uneven color - can be done in a single appointment. Going from dark or black-dyed hair to a blonde, on the other hand, will almost always require multiple sessions spaced a few weeks apart. We'd never want to rush the process and damage your hair. During your consultation, we'll give you a realistic picture of exactly what to expect.
Will color correction damage my hair?
In the hands of an experienced colorist using quality products, color correction does not have to mean damaged hair. At Salon Tel Aviv, we use organic, ammonia-free color from Milkshake, and we incorporate K18 molecular repair treatment into every service. We also assess the condition of your hair before we begin - if we feel your hair needs to be strengthened first, we'll always tell you. We prioritize your hair's health above all else.
How much does color correction cost?
Color correction is priced based on the complexity of the work and the time involved, so there's no single flat rate. Simple tone adjustments are on the lower end; multi-step corrections from very dark to light will be priced accordingly. We're always transparent about cost during your consultation so there are no surprises. You can get a general sense of our pricing on our
prices page, and we're happy to discuss specifics when you come in.
Can I get color correction if I've used box dye?
Yes, absolutely - and you're definitely not alone. Box dye is one of the most common things we correct. The challenge with box dye is that it deposits a heavy, metallic pigment that can be stubborn to remove, and the formulas are not customized to your hair type. We work through it carefully and progressively to avoid overprocessing. The key is being honest with us about your color history so we can plan the correction properly.
Can I get a haircut or other treatment the same day as my color correction?
In many cases, yes! A trim after a color correction is actually a great idea - removing any damaged ends makes the color look cleaner and more even. We can also often combine color correction with a
keratin treatment since our keratin is organic and formaldehyde-free. We'll let you know during your consultation what can be combined in one visit safely.
How do I maintain my color after correction?
After a correction, your hair needs a little extra love. We recommend using a color-safe, sulfate-free shampoo and conditioner to extend the life of your new color. Purple or blue shampoo can help if you've gone blonde, to keep brassiness at bay between visits. We'll walk you through a personalized aftercare routine before you leave the salon - because the best color correction is one that stays beautiful for as long as po
